Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Metadata Technologies Manager, the Senior Library Systems Administrator will play a lead role in technical support and problem resolution for the Library Services Platform (LSP), Discovery Services and other related library applications. As a member of the LSP Management Team, the Senior Library Systems Administrator will perform system configurations across all functional areas; create, monitor and provide support for system integrations and import/export processes; run automated jobs to support library functions and workflows; and support peripheral applications related to the LSP. The incumbent will produce staff communications, LSP documentation and training initiatives; and handle additional project work and other related duties as assigned.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to::

Technical Support Services

  • Plays lead role in technical support and problem resolution for the Library Services Platform
  • Responsible for LSP ticket management and assignment; handles support issues directly or refers issues as needed.
  • Acts as key contact for vendor product support; evaluates and tests new software releases; monitors system performance using a variety of appropriate methods, remediates or refers issues as required.
  • Participates in development of LSP policies and procedures; ensures LSP issues are handled in compliance with defined protocols.
  • Creates, runs and exports analytical reports to support member libraries.
  • Prepares and distributes LSP-related documentation; contributes to the development and delivery of training programs as part of software support services.
  • Participates in risk assessments to identify potential security risks associated with online systems, tools and resources.

Technical Operations

  • Performs system configurations for all libraries and across all functional areas; works collaboratively with domain experts to ensure the system supports library workflows.
  • Monitors and supports system integrations and import/export jobs, runs system jobs to support library workflows and operations, tests system updates, and monitors overall system health; remediates or refers issues as appropriate.
  • Configures LSP staff user accounts, including the application of roles and privileges; ensures adherence to relevant policies; administers accounts for applications related to the LSP.
  • Collaborates with other technical staff to configure, administer, and troubleshoot peripheral software and systems; interfaces with system vendors as required.
  • Investigates new system software and integrations in collaboration with domain experts.


Qualifications (Minimum):

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in a related field, e.g., Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Successful applicant will also be required to qualify as a certified administrator on the current LSP platform.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five years related experience, or combination of education and experience required
  • Demonstrated excellence in provision of user-focused technology support to a wide range of users.
  • Experience in library services platform administration,
  • Working knowledge of current web operations environments and demonstrated advanced ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Demonstrated experience with cascading stylesheets, XSLT; knowledge of printing configuration.
  • Understanding of bibliographic metadata standards and formats, and broad knowledge of library workflows highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge and experience with creating, parsing, and transforming common exchange formats such as XML, JSON etc.
  • Working knowledge of relevant software environments, and ability to automate processes through shell scripting and other methods highly desirable.
