About us:
The Office of Student Recruitment (OSR) in University Admissions and Outreach is responsible for the strategic, university-wide approach to student recruitment to target and attract students to the University of Toronto. Working closely with academic divisions, OSR is responsible for regularly planning, implementing, assessing and revising a full spectrum of student recruitment initiatives.
Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Associate Director, University Student Recruitment, and supervised by the Senior Recruitment Officer - On-Campus, the Student Recruitment Assistant works closely with the recruitment team and other members of the office and is responsible for supporting all undergraduate student recruitment efforts within the Office of Student Recruitment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with prospective students to provide detailed registration information
- Booking campus tours
- Coordinating staff schedule to ensure proper coverage
- Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
- Coordinating the shipping of recruitment materials to schools and event organizers
- Coordinating drop-in appointments to ensure urgent situations are given priority
- Directing the activities of casual staff
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum two (2) years of recent and related experience in student recruitment and/or student services in a large post-secondary institution
- Experience in planning and coordinating large group events and programs
- Experience supporting and overseeing casual and work-study students’ activities and workflow
- Must be familiar with issues related to student recruitment, admissions and/or university life
- Understanding of the recruitment and admissions processes, and refer to admission reference materials as required; Good understanding of University policies is essential
- Demonstrates a high degree of familiarity with the three campuses of the University of Toronto to meet the needs of a prospective student
- Ability to communicate U of T’s academic programs in the context of a tri-campus university system
- Ability to communicate in-person, telephone and email inquiries from prospective students and their parents demonstrating sensitivity to race, ethnicity, religion, culture, disability, sexual and gender diversity
- Demonstrated ability to work in a busy, high volume environment managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and interruptions requiring strong organizational skills
- Ability to exercise discretion, judgement and initiative in decision making, handling confidential documents or information, selecting and interpreting information
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Assets (Nonessential):
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in an admissions and recruitment setting
- Experience usinga CRM would also be an asset
- Knowledge and use of databases and student information systems is an asset
