Description:

Course Description: This course is designed to help students build communication skills in the Korean language. Through an integration of listening, speaking, reading and writing, it aims to provide a solid foundation in beginning-level Korean. This course assumes that students do not have any prior knowledge of Korean. Students must go through screening process conducted by the Department. Estimated course enrolment: 50 students

Hours of work: 210 students

Class schedule: In-person lectures (potentially any of): Mondays 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm, 5pm-7pm, Tuesdays 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm, 5pm-7pm, Wednesdays 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm, 5pm-7pm, Thursdays 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm, 5pm-7pm

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026

Salary: $54.27/hour, plus 4% vacation pay

Minimum qualifications: Native or near-native fluency in Korean, experience leading online tutorials and an ability to communicate information clearly required.
Preferred qualifications: Grading experience in a language course preferred.
Description of duties: Leading tutorial sections; Marking assignments and exams; Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
