Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Director, Sport and Recreation, you will provide professional and dynamic leadership to the Faculty’s Physical Activity and Open Recreation programs across all KPE facilities. You will assist in the development, direction and implementation of comprehensive broad-based programs and events for physical activity, sport and recreation. You will also work to support partners and student leaders in relation to events and activities associated with the University’s MoveU physical activity engagement strategy particularly the programs on the St. George campus. You will support the delivery of drop-in and registered physical activity programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities, such as Student Group Access program and the MoveU program. Working across the Tri-Campuses, supporting programs facilitated at St George campus (downtown), as well as UTM and UTSC
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
- Assist with scheduling and planning for recreational activities, including aquatic activities e.g., drop-in swim
- Analyzing and making recommendations for student program enhancements
- Coordinating the recruitment process and training of casual staff. Directing the activities of casual staff. Assigning and checking the work of work-study students
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Collecting supporting documentation required for payroll and/or HRIS processing
- Ensuring others adhere to established risk management protocols during University events
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical and Health Education, Kinesiology, or a related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years experience in physical activity, recreation and fitness program planning, development and implementation in a post-secondary environment.
- Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment.
- Experience with physical activity, sport and recreations programs for a wide range of clients.
- Standard First Aid
- Basic CPR
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer competencies with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with people at all levels
- Understand current physical activity programs and trends that influence UofT programs
- Ability to balance competing demands of routine work with the special requirements of projects
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and tact
Assets (Nonessential):
- CanFit Pro Certification, ACSM, CPTN, NCCP Level 2, Fitness Certification, Certified Fitness Consultant through CSEP-CPT
- Fusion recreation management software experience
- Scheduling/facility booking experience
- Incident management experience

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 12 -- $79,874 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147. Pay
scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay
