The latest Open RAN (Radio Access Network) technology brings not only BBU (baseband unit) cloudifications & virtualization, open interfaces between DU (Distributed Unit) and RU(Radio Unit) , but also introduces and enables ORAN intelligent automation platform namely SMO (Service Management and Orchestration) with RIC (RAN intelligent Controller) which applies automation at scales to simplify the complexity of ORAN networks, as well as improve network performance, enhance customer experience and minimize ORAN operational costs with ORAN analytics and assurance.

TELUS’ RAN network intelligence platform team will oversee the development, operations and evolution of ORAN SMO and RIC architecture and technology. We are embracing disruption, reimagining network services capabilities, and driving growth. We see great value in bringing Cloud, IP/MPLS, data analytics and software development professionals into this team in addition to RAN knowledge to not only develop these platforms but also enhance the systems to enable TELUS ORAN intelligent operations by closely working with TELUS Stakeholders, vendors and ORAN DevOps team.

What you’ll do

The successful candidate will join theTELUS’s RAN network intelligence platform team within TELUS networks by taking the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ORAN SMO (service management and orchestration) platform design and technology development, drive vendor’s SMO roadmap to align with TELUS’s ORAN automation strategies
  • Responsible for ORAN RIC (RAN intelligent Controller) platform design and technology development
  • Create ORAN automation policies & rules, templates & algorithms and workflow services for ORAN full stack automation, including vRAN Bare Metal, xHaul, CaaS, and vDU/vCU services.
  • Develop O-Cloud (ORAN-Cloud) orchestration and federation solutions including ORAN IMS (Infrastructure Management Services) and DMS (Deployment management Services)
  • Responsible for ORAN Software and Hardware Life Cycle Management solution development and introduction
  • Lead the development of ORAN data processing workflow, as well as data pipelines system design and configurations to ensure data availability and integrity to end users
  • Define TELUS RIC model and algorithm standards for new xApp and rApp onboarding
  • Lead the integration with TELUS overarching remedy’s and systems
  • Drive Open SMO integration with TELUS’s selected vRAN solutions
  • Technology introduction of evolutionary ORAN OAM (FCAPS) via streaming telemetry
  • Lead SMO/RIC platform AI (Artificial Intelligent)/ML (Machine Learning) workflow services design and technology introduction


Qualifications


What you bring

  • 5 or more years of working experience in wireless operator’s network or wireless solution providers
  • Experience with ORAN SMO and/or RIC development, design and implementation
  • 2+ years experience of 4G/5G cSON development and implementation
  • Experience with AI/ML toolkits such as Tensor flow, Mllib, H2Oai , Kubeflow etc
  • Experiences with LTE, 5G NSA (Non-stand alone) and SA (Standalone) RAN (Radio access network) technology
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages and data formats such as Java, Python, GO, XML, YAML, Shell Scripting, JSON, Resful APIs etc.
  • Experience with managed Kubernetes services such as Google’s Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Amazon’s Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), RedHat OpenShift, WindRiver Cloud platform, Robin.io cloud platform.
  • Experience on managing and developing cloud-native containerized micro services
  • Experience on Kubernete cloud analytics tools, i.e beats, lgostach, elasticserach, kibana, Kafka and/or Prometheus
  • Experience on large scale Kubernetes cluster orchestration and federation solutions and tools, familiar with Windriver central cloud and conductor, or Openshift ACM, or Robin MDCAP is a big asset for successful candidate
  • Creative approach to problem solving and an ability to work independently in an environment with high levels of ambiguity
  • Ability to manage key deliverables as part of an extended project team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Proactive, can lead cross-team initiatives
  • A Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical/computer engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems



Great-to-haves

  • Experience in Requirements Engineering, Solution Architecture, Design, Development and Deployment Experience in Underlying infrastructure for Big Data Solutions (Clustered/Distributed Computing, Storage, Data Center Networking)
  • Familiar with Open-RAN and ETSI specifications and standards
  • Multi- or Hybrid-cloud architectures
  • Experience with Big Data & Analytics tools such as Hadoop MapReduce, Spark, Big Query, DataFlow etc.

LOCATION: Any major Canadian city

Salary Range: $85,000-$127,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12%
