The IP Network Integrity (NI) team is a senior and highly technical team that many other areas rely on for assistance when things go wrong. The NI team is responsible for supporting the core IP network nationally in TELUS, which supports all of our Voice, Video, peering and Internet traffic. We work closely with both the front-line assurance teams to support our existing services as well as with the developers of the next generation technologies that will be deployed. We are responsible for a wide range of technologies so there is always a new challenge technically to keep you interested. In addition, we are now focusing on automation and innovation, trying to identify ways to reduce toil within the team by adopting principles like Site Reliability Engineering.

Description

What you’ll do

You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of dedicated and skilled technicians to:

  • Quickly restore services impacting our customers
  • Prepare documentation that your team can rely on and our partner teams can use for guidance
  • Deploy automations to reduce toil and improve our ability to support our customers
  • Leverage your Dev-Ops skills to help strengthen Dev-Ops practice within NI and TELUS

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Strong knowledge of IP Core protocols used in Service Provider networks: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, STP, etc
  • Experience with the following hardware
    • JUNIPER: EX, MX, QFX
    • NOKIA: 7950, 7750, 7450
    • CISCO: ASR9k, NCS 5500, ME3400
  • 2 to 5+ of years of experience as a Network Engineer
  • Secondary certification, or equivalent, in Cisco, Juniper, or Nokia
  • 24/7 on-call in a rotation with your peers

Great-to-haves

  • Experience with TELUS-managed customers
  • Understanding of Virtualization/SDN
  • Knowledge of Access technologies (DSL/PON)
  • Experience with legacy TELUS technology (e.g., ATM, ECs, etc.)
  • Post-secondary degree in a technical field
  • Coding Language: Python, Typescript, Javascript, Bash, HTML
  • DevOps: Gitlab CICD pipeline, Spinnaker
  • Version Control: Git / Gitlab / Github / Bitbucket
  • Front End Dev framework: React, NodeJS, Angular, Flask
Salary Range: $73,000-$109,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12%
