Responsibilities
- Manage the front desk operations of the Boilermaker Station Welcome Center, open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., to include welcoming and assisting guests, keeping the space clean, stocking supplies, and tracking visitor numbers and notes.
- Sell memberships in PASE, the Purdue Alumni Student Experience, and Purdue Alumni Association.
- Pass out PASE kits and jackets to new student members.
- Promote engagement and event opportunities within the Purdue for Life Foundation.
- Help staff and set up events hosted out of the Boilermaker Station Welcome Center.
- Work with our Admissions team to welcome potential Purdue students and families for tours.
- Keep reliable notes on significant conversations help with Purdue alumni, families, and/or business leaders.
- Attend 3-4 trainings to develop career and professional skills.
Marketing & Events
- Assist with setting up and staffing for events for alumni, families, and friends.
- Manage and set up the shadow box displays to promote the Purdue for Life Foundation.
- Help with other Purdue for Life Foundation and PASE events as needed.
Supply & Logistics
- Ensure the space has the necessary materials to function such as cleaning supplies, office supplies, event materials, university and community informational sheets, and give away items.
- Keep track of our technology usage in the space to ensure systems are functioning.
- Ensure the staff are aware of any shortage of supplies or malfunctioning of equipment.
Other
- Provide tours to alumni and friends.
- Assist with data entry to include updating contact information and keeping notes on important conversations with alumni and other constituents.
- Work occasional evening and weekend events
- Must be available during Boiler Gold Rush
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred.
- Proficiency in social media platforms.
- Creative in new technologies and platforms.
- Event planning experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to keep information confidential required.
- Must have the ability to stay organized, take the initiative to solve problems and handle multiple and varied tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Adaptable work style and comfortable with change
- Time management, scheduling other people and coordinating locations for events as well as vendors for events.
Required Education, Experience and Benefits Summary
- Must be a current Purdue University student
- Experience working with people, managing organizations, planning events and working in a fast-paced, evolving environment preferred.
- Must be available to work full time hours from May 25th through August 21st
