Executive Summary

The Office of Industry Partnerships (OIP)
connects corporations and corporate foundations with the full breadth and depth of resources at Purdue University. As a conduit between external partners and internal stakeholders, the OIP team is responsible for cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships that accelerate innovation and create lasting impact.
The Senior Director of Industry Partnerships will identify, maintain, and grow strategic collaborations between the University and external partners within the technology, finance, and consulting sectors. Committed to the University’s mission, the Director will leverage engagement opportunities across the Purdue ecosystem to create new opportunities for research, entrepreneurship, talent, training, fundraising, and placemaking with top corporations and corporate foundations.


Responsibilities

Relationship Management & Communication:
  • Effectively utilize a relationship building process to engage with corporate partners, leading to lasting impact in alignment with the University’s strategic priorities.
  • Leverage and maximize opportunities by working strategically and integrating efforts with the Office of Research Sponsored Program Services, Purdue Research Foundation, Purdue Online, the Center for Career Opportunities, Office of Engagement, and others across the University.
  • Work in tandem with university administration and academic leadership in designing and implementing corporate visits, events, and informational exchanged
  • Ensure cooperation and coordination of engagement activities through consistent and effective communication.
  • Represent OIP as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
Opportunity Development:
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with corporate leaders and university representatives that lead to meaningful collaborations and sustained support.
  • Lead efforts to secure engagement opportunities from corporate partners, contributing significantly to the University's overall fundraising goals.
  • Remain informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities within philanthropy, research, talent, and training.
  • Collaborate with University stakeholders to build a proposal pipeline within 2 years totaling $20M+ on a rolling 12-month basis that produces $5M annual production credit.

Prospect Research, Proposal Development and Tracking:
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans with corporate executives that identify priorities, key stakeholders, budgets, timelines, and desired deliverables.
  • Actively manage proposal pipeline through direct interaction with opportunities or via outreach to faculty, university, or other internal stakeholder key contacts to maintain accurate reflection of portfolio activity in database.

  • Ability to travel, work some weekends and evenings.

Required Education/Experience and Benefits

  • Bachelors Degree Required (Technical BA is preferred).
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of professional business development experience as well as successful track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • 5+ years of stakeholder engagement experience in a complex organization.
  • Proven experience securing $1M+ annually in a sales or nonprofit setting.
