Role Overview

We're seeking a dynamic Event and Community Manager to join our team where you'll play a pivotal role in designing, planning, and executing our robust calendar of 50+ annual events while nurturing our vibrant community of industry leaders. This role demands exceptional relationship-building skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for creating memorable experiences that forge authentic connections. You'll be responsible for bringing together founders, investors, executives, and innovators across industries through thoughtfully curated events ranging from intimate salon dinners to 200+ person networking events, all while embodying our belief in the power of social capital as a driver of business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute a diverse calendar of 50+ events annually, including networking cocktails, salon dinners, expert speaker series, and cross-category content series
  • Play a key role in planning and executing Human Ventures' inaugural Attention Summit being held next spring in NYC – our flagship event bringing together brands, advertisers, innovators, and storytellers to focus on building trust and cultural relevance in the new attention economy
  • Leverage our privileged access to premier event spaces, including our Human-owned NYC spaces, to create unique, high-quality experiences
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders from our network of 1,000+ experts, executives, and innovators across industries
  • Work closely with partners to create customized co-branded events, including guest list curation and full event execution
  • Collaborate with the broader Human Ventures team to ensure events support portfolio companies and align with overall business objectives
  • Manage event logistics, including venue selection, catering, AV requirements, guest communications, and day-of coordination
  • Track event metrics, gather attendee feedback, and continuously improve programming
  • Support business development initiatives through strategic event planning and network management
  • Maintain and expand relationships with vendors, hospitality partners, and event spaces
  • Assist in creating content and communications related to events and community initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in event planning, community management, or related fields, preferably in venture capital, startups, or hospitality
  • Proven track record of successfully planning and executing diverse events, from intimate gatherings to larger conferences
  • Outstanding relationship management skills with the ability to connect with high-profile executives, founders, and industry leaders
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience with event management tools, CRM systems, and community platforms
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving ability and grace under pressure
  • Hospitality-driven mindset with a commitment to creating premium experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the New York City startup ecosystem or venture capital community
  • Knowledge of the Attention Economy, AdTech, MarTech, or related fields
  • Background in luxury hospitality, experiential marketing, or high-end event production
  • Experience working with C-level executives and high-profile individuals
  • Understanding of how strategic networking translates to business development
  • Prior work at a venture firm, startup studio, or accelerator
  • Portfolio of successful events that have driven measurable business outcomes
