Occupational Summary:

Assist with preparation of financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information originating in the University Budget Office.

Duties:

  • Assist with the preparation of annual operating budget for CAMC departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance within university guidelines. (20%)

  • Perform financial analysis and report creation for CAMC departments used for identifying areas of strategic opportunities and risks, alternatives, and contingencies. (20%)

  • Assist Director, Budgets and Analysis with coordinating the preparation of Duke University's annual and quarterly financial reports for senior management and Board of Trustee review. (20%)

  • Collaborate with business unit financial managers regarding financial position, cash flows, accounts, budgets, financial transactions, and related financial matters. (25%)

  • Assist with year-end close process for CAMC departments, ensuring financial managers review transactions for accuracy and compliance within university guidelines, as well as communicating significant operating budget variances to the Director for appropriate action. (10%)

  • Perform other special projects and related duties incidental to the work described herein. (5%)

Qualifications:

Education/Training

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.

Experience

Work requires three years’ experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Skills

Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP; proficiency in Analysis for Office preferred.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $61,4 65.00 to USD $105,523.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an of fer.
